"Willy's Wonderland" Review - From the Vaults!

 "Willy's Wonderland"

Honestly, I couldn't even give you context if I wanted to

An odd, stoic, mysterious drifter (Nicolas Cage) with a fondness for energy drinks is passing through the country, when his car breaks down near Hayesville, Nevada. The locals don't take credit card, so he'll have to work off the debt whilst they get the parts by being a janitor at creepy old and abandoned animatronics-filled restaurant "Willy's Wonderland" for the night. But there is more to the animatronics than meets the eye, and this stranger's night gets even longer when a bunch of youths led by the spunky Liv (Emily Tosta) break in...

This movie is fantastic fun: a low budget gory comedy with wonderfully bizarre touches (with gems like Nicolas Cage dancing to pinball, having a tonfa fight with a bird, and taking literal breaks from the action) and a desire to subvert the horror conventions and the premises it sets out to imitate. It's like a reverse slasher movie or, since comparisons are inevitable, "Five Nights At Freddie's" having fun with the concept and without being made by a piece of shit like Scott Cawthon.

I heartily recommend this, and haven't even gotten to the weird part about Cage's excellent performance...
